Mylochromis melanonotus "Chimwalani"

Mylochromis melanonotus can be found all around the lake. They are mainly living above the sandbottoms and in the sandy environments of the intermediate zones from rocks to sand. These examples were found in the neighbourhood of Chimwalani Reef in the southern part of the lake.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to 22 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 26 cm, females grow to about 22 cm.

In the lake Mylochromis melanonotus is hunting for and feeding itself with small young fish (mainly young catfish). You can best keep this species with multiple females and other big species in a large tank with a lot of swimming space.

We are dealing here with a species which likes eating fish, so we'll regularly have to offer him such kind of food like living small fish, mysis, krill, artemia, shrimpmix etc.
